Taormina

Next stop...Taormina. There we were, traveling along the highway, hydroplaning here and there...to which Rob responded to by laughing. Apparently he was still experiencing post accident trama. I informed him the correct response to hydroplaning was swearing, NOT giggling. AND THEN, several miles down the road we came upon this. Don't ask me how this semi managed to be punctured by some railing, but here's the proof. What's even better is that on the other side of the semi the doors had flung open and there were chips, candy, and drinks scattered everywhere. It was the biggest pinata I had ever seen!

Upon arrival I dug out my new sneakers...Rob and I got into our 12th tiff about how buying new shoes for a trip where we'll clearly be doing ALOT of walking was either a wise or dumb decision...and off we went. After being packed like sardines into a bus with a million geriatric tourists, we braved our way through the drizzle and hiked up to a Greek temple. The cobblestone streets and views of the city below were oh so very picturesque. It was fun playing sharades with some tourists speaking Czech to get them to take our picture. By their reaction you'd think we just demanded they give us all their money, but we really just asked them to take our picture.

Don't ask us what the history of this place is, or why it's important... we just know it's a tourist spot and a must see.

Now here's something we can appreciate...Pastries! There were so many tempting treats along the way. It was Toarmina where we had our first gelato...pistacchio and stracciatella.
