2007 Family Update

2007 has be a great year for the Bachman clan. We kicked off the year with the birth of Isaac Robert on January 6th, which means his one year birthday is just around the corner. Over the last year we have thoroughly enjoyed his unique personality. In a word, we would describe him as intense. He will almost hyperventilate for a bite of coconut cream pie, beat down pop up toys with sudden sneak up whacks, full on wrestle anyone willing to challenge him in a game of clean diaper or clothes and believes with all of his kicking and paddling heart that he CAN swim. Despite all his intensity, he is a very sweet and loving boy and will stop in the middle of speed crawling to happily flash anyone his two bottom teeth grin the second you smile and say his name.

Zekie has also had a wonderful year of growing and learning. He turned “twoooowah” in October as anyone who meets him could guess from his onslaught of “Noooooooooo’s”. He is very pleased with his latest tricks of counting to 10 and singing his ABC’s, which I can only take partial credit for and owe the rest of the teaching to his FAVORITE DVD’s “Signing Time.” Zekie is a wonderful older brother to Isaac. One of our favorite Zekie moments of the year happened recently, when I found Zekie had climbed into Isaac’s crib with the shampoo and sponge and had begun giving him a bath. Zekie still loves balls and especially enjoys his Little Tikes basketball and “shooting hoops” with Dada almost every night.

Katie’s biggest news for this year is being pregnant with child number three. We snuck in an early ultrasound with Rob’s sister who’s a nurse and currently believe it’s another boy. He is due on May 28th, and we’re leaning towards the name Caleb but are happily taking suggestions as well. When I not busy chasing around two little boys I enjoy all of my incredible hobbies…oh wait, I’m always chasing boys so I have no hobbies! Actually, I really do love being a mother and homemaker and count myself very blessed to be able to stay home and do just that. I also love serving in the Young Women’s program at church and sending all of you pictures and updates of our little family.

Rob has continued to be a hard-working husband, father, employee, bishopric member and golfer. He has been able to take a couple weeks off during this Christmas season and it has been great to have him around. At Ernst and Young, he was recently promoted to manager and continues to gain great work experience while working with great coworkers and clients. He also really enjoys serving as 2nd counselor in the bishopric at church and all the opportunities he has to meet and mix with the wonderful people in our ward. With all of his work and church responsibilities, he is very busy, but still manages to spend as much time as possible with me and the boys. However, he does sneak in a little golf here and there. Luckily work has help out in that department quite a bit.

We have loved receiving Christmas updates from many of you and hope this has given you a small glimpse into our year. We hope you all had an incredible Christmas holiday and wish you a VERY Happy New Year for 2008!

Snow Dance

Zekie was sooo excited that it snowed yesterday! He exclaimed "Oooooooooh s'no'w". As well as "Zekie, no, outside." He did lots of snow dances and jumps, but mostly enjoyed catching snowflakes in his mouth :) The exciting life of a 2 year old.

Thankful for Thanksgiving!

We had an incredible Thanksgiving! We started off with Katie's family for a lovely Thanksgiving breakfast complete with waffles, eggs, bacon...the works :) Then after a quick nap for the boys, we cruised up to Farmington to see Rob's extended family who got to meet Isaac for the first time! After eating to our hearts' content, we played a little pool and ping pong, and watched and danced to Hairspray. Next we headed over to Rob's parents for a relaxing rest of the evening. Needless to say we are thankful for our family and many blessings and are grateful for such a wonderful holiday to express our thankfulness :)

Isaac is a BIG fan of Thanksgiving. This was his first one and he is anxiously awaiting next year when he has more teeth!

To Isaac, there is nothing much finer than romping around the leaves and sampling a few here and there.

"Rob Buzzed the Baby"

Isaac was majorly due for his first haircut. He was starting to resemble Conan O'Brien, who is hilarious, but not exactly who we want our baby to look like :) As you can see, his hair helped him get intouch with his wild side...

AND now with the hair gone he's feeling much more subdued. Or maybe this is just his tough, freshly buzzed army face.

Halloween in the Jungle!

Well, we survived another Halloween! As you can see by the pictures we dressed our boys up at cool cats this Halloween with Zekie as a lion and Isaac as a leopard. Zekie's roar still needs some work considering it's a mere whisper...but it wasn't likely he was going to scare anyone anyways. Zekie did think Halloween was rather terrifying though. Something about knocks and ringing at the door always sends him into hyperventilation. However when it was his turn to ring the bell and say "treat!" he decided Halloween wasn't so bad afterall. I mean what other holiday can you grab as many suckers out of a bowl that your little hands can manage to grab onto. NUM!!

Zekie's 2nd Birthday

October 18th was Zekie's 2nd birthday. His Dada came home for lunch and brought us Cafe Rio for the occassion. Zekie thoroughly enjoyed the cream from his keylime pie...off the end of the candles he blew out like a champ! Zekie got some Mega Blocks and has had just as much fun with the bag they came in as he has with the blocks. All in all he had a fabulous birthday :)

The Cabin through the Generations

Rob, Zekie and Isaac...the legacy continues. This was the boys first trip to the cabin that Rob Sr. helped "Bunky" build. It's in Island Park, up by Yellowstone and is very quaint and in a beautiful setting out in the woods. Zekie's favorite part, of course was throwing rocks into Moose Creek which is only a couple yards away. He was desperate to get in the water, and was quite shocked when it nearly froze his little toes off! Isaac was more than happy to shred grass and Rob was clearly in a great mood because he caught several large trout. Like I said...it was the boys first trip, but I'm sure it won't be the last.

Floating the River at Island Park

Don't let the look on their faces confuse you. The boys had a fabulous time floating the river. Isaac has never slept so soundly... I'm sure the warmth of his grandmother's arms combined with the gentle rocking of the boat had something to do with it :) And Zekie had a wide assortment of snacks and happily waved to every last fisherman we passed...several times. All in all in was a beautiful day on the river. Nature is soo refreshing.

Bathtime Buddies

Zekie and Isaac throughly enjoy splish splashin' in the bath. So far all of the foam letters are "A" according to Zekes or maybe "9". Isaac as you can see is just thrilled to be able to chew on various floating passerbys and occassionally decides to go all out and have a major swim party. Most of all, they're just happy to be bathtime brother buddies.

Labor Day Fun

We pretty much lounged around most of labor day but we eventually made our way up the canyon to a place called Silver Lake. Zekie enjoyed quacking at the ducks, throwing rocks, eating nums and jumping into Dada's arms. Squeaks had a prime spot in the Snugli and made lots of serious faces as he took in the scenery. We had a fabulous time...and even saw a huge moose!
